Editorial

In this and subsequent issues of LRRD, we review some of the steps that were taken, beginning in 2008, to promote research aimed at adapting tropical animal production systems starting from their own environment to reduce their carbon footprint and contribute to the conservation of biodiversity by promoting knowledge and use of its own resources. We propose to continue this series of trials at intervals during 2021. We hope that the information will serve as a guide and encouragement to researchers in tropical countries in planning and executing their own research activities.

The research was done in Cambodia, Lao PDR and Vietnam with support from the MEKARN I and MEKARN II regional projects, financed by the Swedish International Development Agency (Sida).
